Solid Basket Centrifuges - Are used to sparate fine solid particles from liquids or even liquid - liquid separation.  Material enters the rotating basket and is acted on by the centripetal force.  Solids or heavy liquids are separated and retained in the basket.  If separation is acceptable material can be continuously fed into the basket allowing only the clear liquid to overflow the basket and drain from the machine.  Solids retained in the basket must be removed manually or with a peeler mechanism. If the process is liquid - liquid separation a decanting tube may be employed to evacuate the contents separately.  Additionally drain holes in the rotor can facilitate cleaning by draining liquid when the basket is stopped for cleaning.
